About Engage

Engage exists to provide perspective on culture through the eyes of a Biblical worldview, showing how that worldview intersects with culture and engages it.

Hopeful for the Future | Orange Letter Campaign

11/13/2020

As we close the week dedicated to the Orange Letter Campaign, I want to end on a note of hope. We have just spent a week speaking to missionaries, learning about their struggles and the cost of following Jesus Christ into oftentimes the most dangerous places in the world. Glimpsing such darkness can weigh heavily on us, and it can be easy to forget that while we are still fighting the battle, the war is already won.

God’s work is being done

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

You won’t be hearing about it in the media, but God’s promise that His word does not come back void still stands. As I think about the hundreds of Christians all around the world who are sharing the word of God, even in the midst of the special circumstances the pandemic has brought, I am greatly encouraged. Our God is not like the gods of the world who speak empty words and promise empty promises. Our God’s words are truth, and He will not go back on them.

We must take part in it

So where does that leave you and me? Do we just smile, nod in agreement, and go about our lives unchanged and unaffected? No, we certainly don’t. As a young Jesus once told the scholars in Jerusalem, we too must be about our Father’s business. So what can we do? It’s not too late to write a letter of encouragement.

You might not be in the streets of Mumbai or smuggling Bibles to the underground church in China, but you can be the voice that bolsters and strengthens the men and women who are. You can take just a few minutes and prayerfully write a simple letter to your brother or sister, reminding them that they are not alone or forgotten and that they are being prayed for.

We are asking for letters filled with Scripture, prayer, and encouragement. If you would like to write a letter but do not know what to say, pray and spend time in your Bible. More than anything, these men and women need the Word of God to speak to their hearts.

We are collecting letters until November 20. To send your letter, simply email it to orange@afa.net and it will be delivered.
